CSA's Story
Jan Greer and Michael Kokas started Upstate Farms in 1989 when they saw the opportunity to connect restaurants in NYC with the bounty of Hudson Valley farms. Thirty years later Upstate Farms continue to deliver local food grown on small family Farms to New York City chefs. We deliver products grown on our farm as well as a variety of farms in the Hudson Valley and our network represents over a thousand acres of farmland throughout New York State.
In addition to our distribution service, we also grow herbs and vegetables, forage wild greens and mushrooms, make maple syrup and manage bee hives on our 95 acre farm in Tivoli, NY.
The Farm Box was our quick response to the Corona Virus, brought on by the need of our fellow New Yorkers to get farm fresh vegetables without going shopping. We deliver a variety of fresh farm goods to safe pickup locations in Brooklyn neighborhoods and set up a ‘no contact pick up’ at our Tivoli farm for our upstate neighbors.
